How to create list message & message with reply button?

Send Interactive Messages

Interactive messages on WhatsApp are something that can be used to make user experience smoother and simpler. By using interactive messages user can select options instead of typing a response. User can send interactive messages in WATI when creating a chatbot.

There are two types of interactive messages:

  • List Messages
  • Buttons Messages

List Messages

List Messages gives users to choose an answer or an option from a menu of up to 10 replies.

When user clicks on the menu, there are options to select from a menu like this:

How to create it?
  1. Create a new Chatbot
  2. Click "Ask a question" card
  1. After that, click "List" to create a list node in a chatbot
  1. Click icon and then choose "Edit" option, there are a lot of fields to field such as:
  • Header Text - header in list node (Markdown styling like bold/italic or other styles are not supported)
  • Body Text - main body of text in list node
  • Footer Text - footer below body text
  • Button Text - text on button by opening which receiver will see a list
  • Section 1 Title - name of the section in which there are different listed variants - if more than one section is created, then one has different options under different sections in one node;
  • Row 1 - list option itself, more rows can be added

There is also a possibility of saving answers into variable in the last input field.

In total there can only be a maximum of 10 rows/buttons in a single List type message. The maximum number of characters in a row is 24.

After all fields are configured along to user's wishes click "Save" button.

Buttons Messages

Buttons messages are messages that allows user to choose one of the variants just clicking on it. These messages are mainly used when for quick reply/response.

How to create it?

To use it in WATI Chatbot builder one needs to follow these steps:

  1. Create a new chatbot
  2. Click "Ask a question" card
  1. After that, click "Buttons" to create a buttons node in a chatbot
  1. Click icon and then choose "Edit" option, there are a lot of fields to field such as:
  • Media Header - one can attach media to the buttons node. If this is desirable, switch it to on, fill other fields, click "Save" and then attach media file to the buttons list of one of three types:
  • Header Text - header in buttons node (Markdown styling like bold/italic or other styles are not supported)
  • Body Text - main body of text in buttons node
  • Footer Text - footer below body text
  • Button 1 - text on button itself, more button can be added

There is also a possibility of saving answers into variable in the last input field.

In total there can only be a maximum of 3 buttons in a single button node. The maximum number of characters in a button is 20.

After all fields are configured along to user's wishes click "Save" button.
