How to Change the Connected Phone Number/Business Portfolio

In some cases, you might need to change your phone number or the connected Business Portfolio due to various reasons.

Different use cases have different processes, please read this article thoroughly before starting the process.

How to Start the Account Change Process?

  1. Make sure that you're login using the new URL format live.wati.io/tenantId
  2. Once logged in please go to the Channel Status page. You can find it by clicking the profile icon on the top right.
  3. Here you will find the "Change Account/Number" button to start the process

Phone Number Change

If you want to only change the Phone number, make sure to add the new number under the same Business Portfolio and the same WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) as the previous one.

Feel free to reach out to us at support@wati.io if you're not sure about the Business Portfolio and the WABA that you currently use.

In case you're using a new WABA, you would need to resubmit all of the approved templates via Wati so those are reflected in the new WABA before you can send them again to the customers.

Business Portfolio Change

If you want to change the Business Portfolio only make sure:

  1. The 2FA of the number has been disabled.
  2. When connecting the same number to the new Business Portfolio make sure to use the same Display Name as the current one

If you want to change both the Business Portfolio and the Phone Number you can directly start the process as there's no limitation.
