Pre-requisites for connecting your Instagram account

  1. Check if you have an Instagram Professional account

In order to allow Wati to use the Instagram API and connect to your account, Facebook requires that the Instagram account must be a Professional account.

Professional Instagram accounts can either be made as Business or Creator accounts. The major difference between these and a personal account is that Professional accounts must be public and they offer many useful tools for businesses to increase their reach.

  1. Make sure your Instagram account is linked to your Facebook Page

Another requirement is to link your Instagram account with your business managed Facebook Page. This linking is required to login and authenticate your Instagram account connection to Wati via Facebook.

  1. Allow Wati access to your Instagram messages

Lastly, to complete the setup of your Instagram account on Wati, you need to allow us access to your messages so we can display them on your Wati dashboard and enable you to respond to them as well.

For this, you need to

  1. Go to your profile on the Instagram mobile app
  2. Tap on the (hamburger menu icon) on the top right corner
  3. Scroll down to Messages and story replies
  4. Tap on Message controls
  5. Enable the Access to Messages setting
