Instructions
Best practices for template creation
1. Media file templates
When including images, documents, or videos:
Go to the Header section in your Wati template editor
Upload your media file
In the text box below the media, always add:
{{attachmentLink}}This placeholder ensures LeadSquared can properly display the media when sending through the integration.
2. Templates with variables
For personalized messages using merge fields:
In the Body section, write your message content
Replace variables with numbered placeholders:
First variable →
{{1}}Second variable →
{{2}}
And so on.
Example Transformation: Original message:"Hi {{name}}, your order {{orderNumber}} is ready."
Formatted for integration:"Hi {{1}}, your order {{2}} is ready."
3. Call-to-Action (CTA) buttons
For dynamic website buttons:
Select Call to Action as your button type
Choose Visit website (default selection)
Set action to Dynamic
Combine static and dynamic URL parts:
https://yourdomain.com/{{buttonLink}}Add clear button text (e.g., "Track My Order")
Important Requirements
Sample Content
For templates using variables or dynamic buttons:
Always provide default values in the Sample Content section
These defaults appear when testing templates in Wati
Example defaults:

For real-time messaging:
Enable LeadSquared Converse in your connector settings
Users can then send approved templates directly to leads
Important limitations with Wati and LeadSquared Integration
The following limitations apply to messages sent through the Wati integration on the WhatsApp connector:
Delivery Status Unavailable: Message delivery status (Sent/Read/Delivered) is not currently tracked and will not appear in your WhatsApp reports.
No Ticks: The single, double, and blue tick indicators for message status will not be visible.
Text-Only Custom Messages: When sending non-template-based messages, you can only send text. Sending custom media files is not supported.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Template creation
1. How should I format media templates for the Wati–LeadSquared integration?
When creating a template that contains an image, document, or video, upload the media file in the template header and add {{attachmentLink}} in the text box below the media. This placeholder allows LeadSquared to display the media correctly when sending messages through the integration.
2. How should I format variables in a WhatsApp template for LeadSquared?
Variables must be replaced with numbered placeholders in the template body. Use {{1}} for the first variable, {{2}} for the second variable, and continue numbering additional variables sequentially.
For example:
Original message:
Hi {{name}}, your order {{orderNumber}} is ready.
Formatted message:
Hi {{1}}, your order {{2}} is ready.
3. How should I configure a dynamic Call-to-Action (CTA) button?
When creating a dynamic website button:
Select Call to Action as the button type.
Choose Visit website.
Set the action to Dynamic.
Combine the static and dynamic parts of the URL.
Example:
You should also provide clear button text, such as "Track My Order".
4. Why do I need to provide sample content for variables and dynamic buttons?
Templates that use variables or dynamic buttons require default values in the Sample Content section. These default values are used when testing templates in Wati.
Example sample values:
{{1}}→ Customer{{2}}→ ORD-12345{{buttonLink}}→ tracking
