How to manage your Wati workspace using the Wati MCP server

After connecting the Wati MCP server to Claude or ChatGPT, you can manage your Wati workspace using natural language. Instead of switching between dashboards, simply tell your AI assistant what you want to do. You can manage contacts, conversations, campaigns, message templates, and other Wati resources directly from your chat. If you use Astra, you can also build, manage, and improve your AI agents from the same conversation.

Manage your Wati workspace

The Wati MCP server lets you manage your Wati workspace without opening the Wati dashboard.

1. Manage contacts

You can:

  • Search for contacts

  • View customer profiles and engagement history

  • Create new contacts

  • Update existing contacts

2. View conversations

You can:

3. Manage WhatsApp message templates

You can:

Note: Sending a template message delivers a real WhatsApp message to your customer. Your AI assistant will always ask for confirmation before sending it.

You can send regular WhatsApp messages directly from your AI assistant.

Use Wati and Astra Together

When your Wati account has Astra enabled, you can manage your Wati workspace and Astra AI agents in the same conversation. Combine customer insights with AI agent management to complete more work using a single prompt.

1. Improve an Astra AI agent based on real customer conversations

Review customer conversations from the past 30 days where customers asked about refunds. Identify the most common questions my Support Agent couldn't answer, update the agent's instructions to handle those questions better, and test the updated agent with three sample refund conversations.

2. Build an AI agent and immediately use it with your Wati workspace

Authenticate your Wati account

The first time you use the Wati MCP server, your AI assistant will guide you through signing in to your Wati account.

If your session expires, you'll be prompted to authenticate again before continuing.

Report issues

If you encounter an unexpected error while using the Wati MCP server, you can ask your AI assistant to report it.

Combine multiple tasks in a single request

One of the biggest advantages of the Wati MCP server is that you can complete multiple tasks in a single conversation.

For example, you can manage your Wati workspace while also working with your Astra AI agents.
