Summary
If your Wati account has Astra enabled, you can manage your Astra AI agents directly from Claude or ChatGPT using the Wati MCP server. Instead of opening the Astra dashboard, simply describe what you want to do in natural language. You can create and update AI agents, manage knowledge bases, configure FAQ overrides, enable skills, and test your agents—all from a single conversation.
This guide introduces the Astra capabilities available through the Wati MCP server and provides example prompts to help you get started.
Instructions
1. Manage Astra AI agents
You can use your AI assistant to manage the entire lifecycle of your Astra AI agents.
You can:

Update an agent's name, description, or behavior
Modify an agent's instructions
Enable or disable tools for an agent

Update my Sales Agent so it responds more empathetically when customers ask about pricing.
Test my Support Agent with a customer asking for a refund.

2. Manage knowledge bases
Knowledge bases provide the information your Astra AI agents use to answer customer questions accurately.
With the Wati MCP server, you can:
Create knowledge bases
View the documents stored in a knowledge base
Search a knowledge base for specific information
Example prompts
Create a new knowledge base for our shipping policies.
Search my knowledge base for information about international returns.
List all documents in my Support knowledge base.
3. Manage FAQ overrides
FAQ overrides let you define specific answers for common customer questions. These answers can be used instead of the default AI-generated response when appropriate.
You can:
Create FAQ overrides
View existing FAQ overrides
Example prompts
Create an FAQ that always answers "What are your business hours?" with our official support hours.
Show me all my FAQ overrides.
4. Manage skills
Skills are collections of tools that extend what your Astra AI agents can do.
Using the Wati MCP server, you can:
View available skills
Enable skills
Disable skills
Use the tools provided by enabled skills
Example prompts
Show me all available skills.
Enable the Analytics skill.
Disable the Branding skill.
Combine multiple Astra tasks in a single request
You can combine several Astra tasks into a single natural language request, allowing your AI assistant to complete more complex workflows in one conversation.
Example prompts
Create a customer support agent using content from <https://mywebsite.com>, test it with five common support questions, and publish it if all the responses are accurate.
Search my knowledge base for refund information, create an FAQ override for our refund policy, and update my Support Agent to use that information when answering customer questions.
List all my Astra agents, identify any agents that don't have the Analytics skill enabled, and enable it for those agents.
Important notes
Your AI assistant can only perform actions that your Wati account has permission to access.
Some Astra features require Astra to be enabled for your Wati account.
Changes to AI agents, knowledge bases, FAQ overrides, and skills take effect only after they are saved or published, where applicable.
The available Astra capabilities may vary depending on your plan and enabled features.
