How it works
The new Google Sheets integration lets you send WhatsApp template messages directly from Wati:
Connect your Google account.
Select the Google Sheet you want to use.
Select the WhatsApp template you want to send.
Map the template variables to columns in your Google Sheet.
Choose when to send the messages.
The template must be selected before you map the columns because the template determines which variables need to be mapped.
What you need
Before you start, make sure you have:
A Google account with access to the Google Sheet you want to use.
A Google Sheet containing the recipient information required by your template.
An approved WhatsApp template to send.
Send WhatsApp messages from a Google Sheet
Follow these steps to send WhatsApp messages from a Google Sheet in Wati:
Step 1: Connect your Google account
Log in to your Wati account.
Go to Connectors > Integratiuons and click on the Google Sheets integration.
Click the option to connect your Google account.
Sign in with Google.
Allow Wati to access the required Google Sheets information.
Step 2: Select your Google Sheet
Select the Google Sheet you want to use.
Select the relevant sheet or tab, if prompted.
Wati uses the data in your selected sheet to prepare the WhatsApp messages.
Note: If you have multiple WhatsApp numbers connected to your Wati account, you may also be prompted to select the WhatsApp number you want to use.
Step 3: Select a WhatsApp template
Select the WhatsApp template you want to send.
Important: Select the template before mapping your columns. The template determines which variables you need to map to your Google Sheet columns.
Step 4: Map template variables to Google Sheet columns
Map each template variable to the corresponding column in your Google Sheet.
For example, if your template contains a customer name variable, map that variable to the column containing customer names.
Review the mappings to make sure each variable uses the correct column.
Step 5: Send the messages
Once the template and column mappings are ready, click Send Message to send the message.
Wati uses the mapped information from your Google Sheet to send the WhatsApp template messages.
Note: Messages are sent when you choose to send them. Adding a new row to the Google Sheet does not automatically send a WhatsApp message.
Track message delivery and reads
After you send the messages, you can view delivery and read information from the Campaigns page in Wati.
The integration screen is used to connect your Google Sheet and prepare your messages. Delivery and read reporting is available from Campaigns.
What happened to the old Google Sheets add-on?
The new Google Sheets flow does not require you to install a separate Google Workspace add-on or paste an API endpoint and access token into your spreadsheet.
If you are already using the older Google Sheets add-on, you can continue using it. You do not need to remove the existing add-on to use the new flow.
Important: The older add-on supports a different workflow, including automation based on a new row being added to a Google Sheet. The new Google Sheets integration in Wati does not automatically send messages when a new row is added.
