Customer checkout experience

When a customer places an order through your WhatsApp Catalog:

  • The customer receives a payment request.

  • The customer selects a payment method.

  • If enabled, the customer enters a delivery address.

  • If shipping fees are enabled, the customer chooses a shipping method.

  • The customer reviews the order summary.

  • The customer completes the payment.

How order synchronization works

After a customer successfully completes payment:

  • A corresponding order is automatically created in Shopify.

  • The Shopify order is marked as Paid and Unfulfilled.

  • Inventory is updated automatically.

  • Existing Shopify fulfillment workflows continue as usual.

Monitor order synchronization

To monitor synchronized orders:

  • Go to Commerce > Orders.

The Orders page displays:

  • Payment Status

  • Shopify Sync Status

  • A Retry option for failed synchronizations

This allows you to quickly identify and resolve synchronization issues if they occur.

Troubleshooting

Shipping fees could not be calculated

If shipping fees cannot be calculated, customers can still complete their payment.

The order will be marked as Failed to calculate for shipping, allowing you to review the shipping charges and contact the customer if an additional payment is required.

Best practices

To ensure a smooth checkout experience:

  • Re-authorize your Shopify connection if you connected Shopify before this feature was introduced.

  • Enable Collect Delivery Address if your products require shipping.

  • Enable Show Shipping Fees to display accurate shipping costs during checkout.

  • Regularly monitor the Orders page for failed synchronizations and retry them when necessary.
