Why can't I log in to Wati, or why is Wati loading slowly?

Wati runs in your browser, which means your browser's stored data sits between you and the platform on every login and every page load. This guide covers the most common browser-side causes of login failures and slow loading — stale cookies holding an expired session, outdated cached files, and extensions or profile settings that block what Wati needs — why they happen, and how to resolve each one before you contact Wati Support.

💡 Login and loading issues generally fall into two categories: issues caused by your browser, device, or network, which you can often resolve yourself using the troubleshooting steps below, and issues related to your Wati account or the Wati platform, which require assistance from the Wati Support team. The steps in this guide use Google Chrome as an example, but you can follow similar steps in other modern browsers. The names and locations of the settings may vary depending on the browser you use.

Work through the causes in the order given — each step rules out the previous one, and the order reflects how often each cause is actually responsible.

Quick answer

Most login failures and slow loading in the Wati web app are caused by stale cookies or cached files in your browser. Clear your browser's cookies, log out of Wati, and log back in — this resolves the issue in most cases.

Is this your issue?

You may see:

  • The login page reloads or returns you to the sign-in screen after you enter valid credentials.

  • An "Invalid session" or "Session expired" message immediately after logging in.

  • The Wati dashboard loading indefinitely, or sections such as Team Inbox, Broadcasts, or Contacts never finishing loading.

  • The Team Inbox loading slowly.

  • The chatbot responding with a noticeable delay.

  • A loading spinner that continues without completing.

  • A "Network Disconnected" error.

  • Buttons or menus that don't respond to clicks.

You're likely hitting this if:

  • You were able to log in successfully before and nothing has changed on your account.

  • The problem happens in one browser but not another, or on one device but not another.

  • The issue is resolved after clearing your browser's cache or cookies, or when using an Incognito window.

  • You've recently changed your password or been logged out unexpectedly.

  • Wati loads normally for your colleagues using the same account.

This is probably a different issue if:

  • Wati is down or degraded for everyone on your team. Check with your team before troubleshooting your browser.

  • You're getting a specific credential error, such as "Incorrect password" or "User not found." These are account-related issues and should be resolved by following the appropriate account recovery steps or by contacting the Wati Support team.

  • Your account has been suspended or your subscription has lapsed. You'll typically see a billing or account status message and should contact the Wati Support team for assistance.

  • Only WhatsApp message sending is failing while the rest of Wati works normally. Refer to the relevant WhatsApp messaging troubleshooting guide instead.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • Your Wati login email and password (clearing cookies signs you out of Wati and other sites)

  • Google Chrome, or another modern desktop browser — the steps below use Chrome as the example

  • A few minutes where you can be signed out of Wati

Note: This guide uses Google Chrome as the example. The same steps work in other browsers, but the names and locations of these settings may vary — look for the equivalent options in your browser's privacy or history settings.

Why this happens

  1. Stale or corrupted cookies are holding an expired or invalid session, so Wati can't authenticate you properly (most common)

  2. Outdated cached files from an earlier version of Wati are being served instead of the current ones, causing slow or incomplete loading

  3. A browser extension or browser profile setting is blocking scripts, cookies, or network requests that Wati needs

Step-by-step fix

Work through the causes in order — each one builds on ruling out the previous.

Cause 1: Stale or corrupted cookies

Goal

Discard the stored session data so Wati issues you a fresh, valid session on your next login.

Steps

  • In Chrome, open Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data.

Alternatively, click the Site settings icon next to the browser's address bar.

  • Select Cookies and other site data and cached images and files.

  • Click Delete data: clearing cookies and cache should be enough.

Note: We recommend selecting Last hour when clearing your browser's cookies and cache. If the issue persists, try increasing the time range (for example, Last 24 hours or Last 7 days). If you're still experiencing the issue, select All time and try again.

  • Log out of your Wati account if you're still signed in.

  • Log back in to Wati.

Expected result

You're signed in on a fresh session and Wati loads normally.

Cause 2: Outdated cached files

Goal

Force the browser to discard its cached copy of Wati and download the current version.

Steps

  • With Wati open, right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect. (Developer tools must be open for the next step to appear.)

  • Right-click the Refresh button next to the browser's address bar.

  • Select Empty Cache and Hard Reload.

Note: The Empty Cache and Hard Reload option only appears while Developer Tools is open.

  • Once the page reloads, close developer tools and try using Wati again.

Expected result

Wati reloads fully with current files, and pages load at normal speed.

Cause 3: A browser extension or profile setting

Goal

Determine whether something in your browser environment — rather than Wati itself — is causing the problem.

Steps

  • Open a new Incognito (private browsing) window in your browser.

  • Log in to your Wati account.

  • Check whether the issue still occurs.

Expected result

If Wati works correctly in an Incognito window, the issue is likely caused by:

• a browser extension

• a stored browser setting

• cached browser data

Disable extensions one at a time until you identify the cause.

If the issue also occurs in an Incognito window, continue with the remaining troubleshooting steps below to rule out browser- and network-related issues.

Cause 4: Browser-specific issue

Goal

Determine whether the issue is specific to your current browser.

Steps

  • Open Wati in a different browser (for example, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari).

  • Sign in to your Wati account.

  • Check whether the issue still occurs.

Expected result

If Wati works normally in another browser, the issue is likely caused by your original browser's settings, extensions, or cached data. Continue using the working browser or review the settings and extensions in your original browser.

Cause 5: Network connectivity issue

Goal

Determine whether your internet connection is affecting Wati's performance.

Steps

  1. Make sure you have a stable internet connection.

  2. If possible, switch to a different network, such as another Wi-Fi network or a mobile hotspot.

  3. Refresh Wati and check whether the issue still occurs.

Expected result

If Wati works normally on a different network, the issue is likely related to your original internet connection. If the issue occurs on multiple networks, continue to Still stuck? below.

Confirm it's resolved

You'll know the fix worked when you can log in on the first attempt and the Wati dashboard loads completely without repeated loading indicators or unexpected delays. — Team Inbox, Contacts, and Broadcasts all open without hanging. Navigation between sections should feel immediate, with no stalled loading indicators.

Prevent this next time

  • Use the Log out button in Wati rather than just closing the tab — this ends your session cleanly and avoids stale-session errors.

  • Keep your browser updated to the current version; older browsers accumulate cache issues and can lag behind Wati's front-end requirements.

  • If you use ad blockers or privacy extensions, add your Wati domain to their allow list so they don't interfere with legitimate requests.

  • Avoid keeping Wati open in the same browser tab for long periods without refreshing, especially after browser updates or long periods of inactivity.

Still stuck?

If you've completed all the troubleshooting steps above and still can't log in or Wati continues to load slowly, contact the Wati Support team.

Include the following information in your support request:

  • Which troubleshooting steps you've already tried and the outcome of each.

  • A screenshot of the error message or loading screen.

  • Your Wati account email address and Subscription ID.

  • Your browser name and version, and your operating system.

  • Whether the issue also occurs in an Incognito window, a different browser, or a different network.

  • The date and approximate time the issue started.

If the Wati Support team needs additional diagnostic information, they may ask you to generate a HAR (HTTP Archive) file. A HAR file records the network activity between your browser and Wati, helping the team investigate issues that can't be identified through standard troubleshooting.

Important: HAR files may contain sensitive information, such as session cookies and submitted form data. Only share a HAR file directly with the Wati Support team.

Providing this information upfront allows the Wati Support team to skip the initial troubleshooting and begin investigating the root cause sooner, which can help speed up the resolution of your issue.
