Looking up information does not require approval. Ask Wati AI returns results immediately.

Any action that changes your data, such as sending a message, updating a contact, or editing an automation rule, shows an approval card before anything happens.

You can review what will change and confirm the action. Nothing is applied until you approve it.

How results appear

Depending on your request, Ask Wati AI may display results as:

  • Proposed actions with an approval card

  • Summaries

  • Charts and analytics

  • Contact and conversation tables

  • Help article cards

Wati AI Agents

Wati AI Agents run on a schedule and scan your workspace for specific conditions. When they find something, they surface the results and suggest what to do next.

Unlike Ask Wati AI, which responds to your questions, Wati AI Agents work in the background and bring relevant information to your attention.

Important: Wati AI Agents do not apply actions automatically. You must review and approve a suggested action before it is applied.

Hire a Wati AI Agent

  1. Open Wati AI and select + New Agent.

  2. Under Suggested agents, select a card to hire that agent.

Agents that match the page you are on appear first. For example, if you are in Team Inbox, inbox-related agents appear at the top.

Create your own agent

You can build a custom agent for a recurring task in your workspace.

  • Open Wati AI and select Create an agent.

  • Describe what you want in plain language. For example: "Create an agent to flag customers asking about refunds."

  • Wati AI sets up the agent with a name, instructions, and a schedule, and saves it as a draft.

  • Review the draft and turn it on when you are ready.

Custom agents can read your inbox summary, recent conversations, message history, and order data if your orders integration is connected.

They can propose actions such as sending a message, tagging a conversation, or creating a segment.

How Wati AI Agents run

Wati AI Agents check your workspace according to their schedule. They do not react instantly to new messages or activity.

For example:

  • An hourly agent runs once an hour.

  • A weekly agent runs once a week at the time you set.

When an agent finds something, it surfaces the results for you to review. Most suggested actions wait for your approval before they are applied.

Manage your agents

To change an agent, open it and select Edit.

You can update:

  • Name and instructions — change what the agent looks for or how it responds

  • Model — change the AI model it uses

  • Schedule — choose Hourly, Daily, Every other day, or Weekly, with a time of day for daily or longer schedules

You can also Pause, Resume, or Delete an agent at any time.

Example workflows

You can combine Ask Wati AI and Wati AI Agents to investigate your workspace and act on the results.

Review today's activity and organize your inbox

  • Ask Wati AI: "Give me a digest of today's activity."

  • Ask Wati AI: "Show me conversations from the digest that look urgent."

  • Hire the Inbox Triage Agent or ask it to find conversations that need follow-up.

  • Review the suggested conversations and approve the action.

Find high-intent sales leads

  • Ask the Ready-to-Buy Agent to find ready-to-buy leads from this week.

  • Review the suggested contacts.

  • Approve the action to save them as a segment for your sales team.

Keep your automations healthy

  • Hire the Automation Health Check Agent.

  • The agent runs weekly and checks for broken references, conflicting rules, and coverage gaps.

  • Review the findings and approve any fixes it proposes.

Current limitations

The following capabilities are not currently available:

  • Scheduled or automatic reports. Digests are generated on demand.

  • Topic clustering across conversations.

  • Bulk message or campaign creation. Continue using the existing Campaigns workflow for this.

Agent limits

  • Hourly agents: Only 1 hourly agent can be active at a time.

  • Daily runs: You can have up to 30 agent runs per day, including scheduled runs and runs you start manually. The count resets at midnight (UTC).
