Transcribing Audio Messages (Beta)

Summary

Wati’s Audio Transcription feature converts audio messages into text directly within the Team Inbox. This makes it easier for your team to read, search, and manage voice messages across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger conversations.

Once transcription is enabled, the text appears below the audio message and remains available in the chat history for future reference.

Note: Audio Transcription is available only for customers on the Pro and Business plans.

How audio transcription works

You can transcribe incoming and outgoing audio messages directly from the Team Inbox.

The feature supports:

  • WhatsApp

  • Instagram

  • Facebook Messenger

How to enable audio transcription

  • Open the Team Inbox.

  • Locate the audio message you want to transcribe.

  • Click Transcribe Audio below the message.

For first-time users

When using the feature for the first time:

  • A short introduction to the feature will appear.

  • Click the option to enable audio transcription.

Note: Audio Transcription is currently available as a Beta feature.

View the transcription

After transcription is generated:

  • The transcribed text appears directly below the audio message.

  • You can expand or collapse the transcription to view the full content.

Download the transcript

You can download the transcription as a .txt file for future reference or sharing.

Provide feedback

Since Audio Transcription is currently in Beta, Wati collects feedback to help improve transcription quality.

You can:

  • Select the thumbs up icon if the transcription is accurate.

  • Select the thumbs down icon if the transcription needs improvement.

  • Submit additional feedback when prompted.

Searchable transcriptions

Once a transcription is generated:

  • It becomes part of the chat history.

  • You can search the transcription like any other message.

  • Other team members in the Team Inbox can also view the transcription.
