Instructions
Note: Before you begin, make sure you are using Wati mobile app version 3.43.1 or later on iOS or Android.
Step 1: Enable call permissions
To receive incoming call notifications, you must grant the required permissions on your device.
iOS
Open the Wati mobile app.
When prompted, allow notification permissions.
Select Always Allow.
This ensures you receive incoming call notifications even when the app is running in the background or is closed.
Android
Open the Wati mobile app.
Navigate to the Calls section.
When prompted, tap Open Settings.
Enable full-screen notification permissions.
This allows incoming calls to appear as full-screen notifications on your device.
Once permissions are enabled, incoming calls will appear as full-screen call notifications, similar to standard phone calls.
Step 2: View and filter call logs
Open the Wati mobile app.
Tap Calls in the bottom navigation menu.
Use the available tabs to filter call logs:
All – View all calls.
Missed – View missed calls only.
Incoming – View incoming calls only.
To view contacts who have already granted calling permission:
Tap the filter dropdown.
Select Requested Accepted.
Tap Apply.
The list will display only contacts who can be called immediately.
Step 3: Call a contact from the call logs
Open the Calls section.
Locate the contact you want to call.
Tap the Call icon.
What happens next depends on the contact's calling permission status:
If the contact has already granted permission, the call starts immediately.
If the contact has not granted permission, you will see the option to send a call request.
To request permission:
Tap Send Request.
Wait for the contact to approve the request before placing the call.
Step 4: Call a contact from a chat
Open the contact's conversation in the Team Inbox to view the call logs.
Tap the Call icon in the top-right corner.
If the contact has granted permission, the call will begin immediately.
If permission has not been requested previously, Wati will send a call permission request instead.
Step 5: Mark yourself unavailable for calls
If you do not want to receive incoming call notifications on your mobile device:
Go to Settings > Notifications > Calls.
Turn off Availability to take calls.
Once disabled, call notifications will no longer appear on your mobile device until you re-enable the setting.
