How to import and export chatbots in Wati

Summary

If you manage chatbots across multiple Wati accounts or environments, you can move a chatbot from one account to another using Wati's export and import features. First, export the chatbot from the source account as a JSON file. You can then import that JSON file into the target Wati account.

Some chatbot settings, connections, and media files are specific to the source account and are not transferred. You must configure or upload these items again after importing the chatbot.

Instructions

Import a chatbot into your Wati account

To import a chatbot, you need the JSON file exported from the source Wati account. Follow these steps to import a chatbot into your Wati account:

  • Log in to the Wati account where you want to import the chatbot.

  • Go to Automations > Chatbots.

  • Click the Import (↥) button in the top-right corner of the chatbot list.

  • Select the JSON file containing the chatbot you want to import.

The chatbot will be added to the target Wati account.

Important: If you do not have the chatbot's JSON file, first export the chatbot from the source Wati account using the steps mentioned in this article.

Export a chatbot

Export the chatbot from the source Wati account to create the JSON file required for import. Follow these steps to export a chatbot from your Wati account:

Configure the chatbot after import

Some chatbot nodes and settings depend on the specific Wati account or environment. These items are not transferred when you import the chatbot and must be configured manually.

After importing the chatbot, review and configure the following:

  • Assign Team and Agent: Team and agent assignments are not retained.

  • Template Messages: Templates used in the chatbot need to be configured again.

  • Google Spreadsheet Node: Google Sheets connections are not transferred.

  • Trigger Chatbot Node: Chatbot triggers need to be set up again.
