Before you begin
Make sure you complete the following steps before connecting your WhatsApp number:
Create a Meta Business Manager account
This account gives you access to the tools needed to manage your business assets on Meta. If you connected your WhatsApp number to Wati using the Embedded Signup process, a Meta Business Manager account should already be created for you.
Set up your WhatsApp Business Platform account
You can set up your WhatsApp Business Platform account through a Business Solution Provider (BSP) such as Wati. If your WhatsApp number is already integrated with Wati, you can skip this step.
Create a Facebook Page for your business
Create a Facebook Page for your business if you do not already have one.
Add your Facebook Page or Instagram account to your Meta Business account
Make sure your Facebook Page or Instagram account is added to the same Meta Business account that is connected to your Wati account.
Connect your WhatsApp Business phone number to your Facebook Page
Follow these steps to connect your WhatsApp Business Platform phone number to your Facebook Page.
Step 1: Go to your Facebook Page.
Step 2: Click Settings.
Step 3: Under Permissions, select Linked Accounts.
Step 4: Next to WhatsApp, click View.
Step 5: Select your country code and enter your WhatsApp Business phone number.
Step 6: Click Send WhatsApp code.
Note: The WhatsApp option appears only on Facebook Pages for businesses. It is not available on personal Facebook profiles.
If your Facebook Page and WhatsApp account are already under the same Meta Business account, a verification code will not be sent. In this case, simply refresh the page to confirm that the number has been connected.
If the phone number and Facebook Page are not under the same Business Manager (BM), a connection request will be sent to the Business Manager that owns the phone number or WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).
Once the request is approved, you can use the number for Click-to-WhatsApp Ads (CTWA) just as you would if the number and page were under the same Business Manager.
Once connected, you can view the linked number in the Settings tab of your Facebook Page. You can also add a Send Message button to your Facebook or Instagram ads, allowing customers to start a conversation with your business directly on WhatsApp.
Connect your WhatsApp Business phone number to Instagram
You can also connect your WhatsApp Business phone number to your Instagram business profile.
Step 1: Open your Instagram profile.
Step 2: Tap Edit Profile.
Step 3: Under Public business information, tap Contact options.
Step 4: Select WhatsApp Business phone number.
Step 5: Choose the WhatsApp number you want to connect, or add a new number.
Step 6: Tap Send confirmation code.
If your Instagram account and WhatsApp account are already under the same Meta Business account, the connection will happen automatically and no verification code is required.
After connecting, your WhatsApp number will appear as a contact option on your Instagram profile.
If you want to remove it later, go to Edit Profile → Contact options, and remove the WhatsApp Business phone number.
